That’s a wrap on Croatia! Amazing country, amazing people, super friendly, breathtakingly beautiful, great food & wine. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly, highly recommended.
We took the local ferry to Split and grabbed a taxi to the airport. Split airport is not what we would describe as “first world”. Lot’s of lines, little dedicated staff for different airlines, etc. so you need at least two hours to make sure you will be checked in, especially if you check luggage. We got there super-early to be safe and spent a couple of uneventful hours in the terminal, drinking beers and using up our Kuna (Croatian currency). The Iberia flight to Madrid was also uneventful, as was the taxi from the Madrid airport to our hotel, the H10 Tribeca.
Neither of us has ever been to Madrid, but Patricia’s cousin, Lauren, lives here, so we had a defacto tour guide. We did a quick change and then headed to the NH Collection Madrid Suecia to check out their roofdeck bar and catch the tail end of the sunset. From there, we walked a few blocks to the trendy “Barrio de Chueca” neighborhood and grabbed some paella, tapas and wine. Madrid is a beautiful city and we were both bummed that we weren’t able to spend a full day here when we got to Europe, as was our original plan. It’s definitely piqued our interest though, and we love Spain overall, so I am sure we will be back.
That’s a wrap on our European Summer 2018 vacation. Tomorrow AM we head back to the US (MAD – JFK – SFO) and will be back in LA by Monday evening. Hopefully we will see our bags someday! Overall a great vacation with great friends (old and new). Excited to share more with you in the weeks to come and on our Instagram and Facebook pages.
Until next time!
