Last full day in Moorea. We had planned to do a little island tour this morning, but the guide we used last time (who did a great job and included a sea-side, homemade lunch) wasn’t available. After asking around a bit and finding out that a similar tour is available at our next destination, Bora Bora, we abandoned the idea and decided just to enjoy the moment.
Not much to add to another day in paradise: great, all-inclusive breakfast, a morning snorkel off our balcony, reading a novel on the deck, a leisurely lunch from the market, a few bottles of wine, another snorkel. What more could you ask for?
We continued our afternoon with a little paddle-boarding, some beach time and a nice bottle of (BYOB) sparkling wine from back home in California. This still leaves us plenty of time to shower, relax and get ready for our last dinner on Moorea. Tonight we are opting to stay on property and dine at the K Restaurant at Sofitel Moorea. We had a great meal last time we were here in 2017, so we knew it wouldn’t disappoint.
The setting is idilic – right on the water, tables in the sand, candlelight, palm trees scattered amongst the tables. There are several prix fixe options, but we decided to do a la carte with a couple of French wines. The wines were quite good, a Sancerre and a Merlot/Cabernet blend from Bordeaux. The food was even better:
- amuse bouche of tuna with truffle cream foam and caviar
- appetizer of scallops with vanilla butter, roasted banana and caviar
- appetizer of ratatouilles and asparagus
- main course of guinea fowl with foie gras, mushrooms, and truffle vinaigrette
- main course of risotto arborio with will mushrooms, truffle, parmesan and roasted corn foam
- main course of filet mignon, pepper sauce, bernaise, potato pavé and vegetables
- dessert of citrus meringue
- dessert of chocolate puffed tart with cherry and cocoa biscuit
Overall, just an exceptional meal and a great finale to our time in Moorea. Off to bed and ready for Bora Bora tomorrow!
